About this Comic Strip -- "Hunger"Soviet prisons were not really known for their great cuisine. In fact, the standard meal was a soup-like dish called "Balanda", which consisted mostly of hot water. Here the prisoners are being made to stand in line in the prison yard. Not a pleasant experience, especially when you're hungry. And poor Yasha is hungry. Hungry enough to say something to the likes of the prison guards. But here, Serzhant decides to pick on Vovik, who is probably just as hungry as Yasha. Although he's not about to taunt the guys with the guns.Characters featured:Yasha (played by actor Quentin McCuiston), Jakob (Jeff Stewart), Vovik (Peter Iasillo, Jr.), and Serzhant (played by Armen Garo).
UNDER JAKOB'S LADDERis an upcoming feature film set in a prison in the Soviet Union in 1938. The prison is populated with a whole assortment of characters.
