PRESS RELEASEAspiring Local Actors Get Film ExperienceIndependent feature film 'Under Jakob's Ladder' is featuring some locals as movie extras while filming in Chester and Monroe... CHESTER, NY
(May 2, 2009) When CubeCity Entertainment, Inc. put a casting call out for movie extras for their upcoming independent feature film, Under Jakob's Ladder, the response was considerable.
"We got a great turn-out," says producer Roberto Munoz, "About a hundred people showed up to the auditions in March." A full length feature film, Under Jakob's Ladder tells the story of a man imprisoned during Stalin's Soviet regime at the outset of the Second World War. The story is based on the true-life story of Jakob Seel, who was denounced by a neighbor and then arrested after praying at a funeral. Put into prison, he and his fellow detainees must overcome many hardships. "About ninety percent of the film has been shot in Chester and Monroe," says Munoz, "We're fortunate to get some excellent backdrops -- such as Museum Village -- to act as the setting of Jakob's Ukrainian village." Most of the principal cast members have come up from New York City for the filming. Two of the lead actors -- including British actor Jeff Stewart (in the role of Jakob), who was a main player for over 20 years on the ITV hit television show 'The Bill' in the UK -- flew in from Europe for the film shoot. As to the extras... Says Munoz: "We've cast a great group of movie extras to populate our film's world. We're glad to get so much community support for the film."
