Michael C. Kricfalusi :: the bailiff

He has been very busy this past year and is looking forward to many more good things to come. Besides being Casting Director, First A.D. and the role of Bailiff in ‘Liars & Lunatics,’ he produced and starred in a film called ‘Special Needs’ which has been screened at a number of film festivals and is slated for more. Upcoming projects include a relocation to Los Angeles where he hopes to become even more involved in the film industry. Next up acting-wise is the role of a guard at a concentration camp in a film scheduled to shoot in early 2007.

INTERVIEW

Q&A :: Michael C. Kricfalusi

Michael C. Kricfalusi as the Security Guard On his role as the Bailiff in the film "Dear J"...

Q: How did you get your start in film?
A: I started taking acting classes when I was a teenager but never pursued it. Then in 2003, I picked them up again. After a successful showcase in New York City, I started auditioning and booking roles in student films and then moving on into feature films.

Q: What attracted you to work on this film?
A: The people involved with the film were the first attraction and the story was one I wanted to see told.

Q: What is your favorite scene?
A: My favorite scene is the one where the trial erupts into chaos.

Q: What was the most challenging scene for you?
A: Getting the apple to fall between my two feet!

Q: You play the role of the Bailiff. How did you prepare for your role?
A: I reviewed different films and television shows to see what a bailiff actually does; his demeanor during court.

Michael C. Kricfalusi with Karen Lynn Gorney

Q: You worked quite closely with Karen Lynn Gorney. What was it like to work with her?
A: Working with Karen Lynn Gorney was great fun. She's got a great sense of humor and that made it all the more enjoyable. Working with the crew overall is what made it feel as if I was with family I liked and enjoyed. The family members you actually want to see at family reunions.

Q: Tell about working on the film.
A: Working on the film was a joy because it was like working with family members you like and care about. Plus I had no idea some people were as funny as they turned out to be; so that was a great surprise!

Q: Who are your influences?
A: Mary T. Boyer has been the biggest influence and inspiration for me when it comes to acting. She's been able to get me to open up and take risks which have translated into much better performances on my part. My children both influence me and inspire me because I think of them whenever I do anything and how they're going to feel about their father out there. Plus they inspire me to live this dream.

Q: What “lesson from mom” do you still live by today?
If you want something to happen, make it happen instead of sitting around just waiting. That, and to treat everyone with respect, not just because it's the right thing to do but also because you never know when your paths may cross again.
